Reader jenster tipped me to an awesome tee from Threadless. YEAH, RAISINS! BEAT IT!

Also, I wanted these cuties from Aerosoles the moment I saw them on the cover of the catalog, but: wow, ouchy. Too tight across the big toe; chafy on the heel, even with the elastic; my little toes jammed up against the edge of the front strap; the patented Aerosoles ball-of-the-foot cushioning, which usually makes other minor discomforts totally worth it on a pair of Aerosoles, did nothing. If you can’t resist the dark pink patent leather — and I couldn’t either — wait for it to go on sale and order half a size up.

    That shirt is awesome! There is something so wrong with raisins in things (especially cookies and cinnamon rolls). However, do like raisins all on their own.

    Me too! My boyfriend thinks that’s so weird. I like raisins plain – but not in things – not cereal, not cookies, and especially not SALADS. They make me think there are flies in my food. OK, maybe that is weird.

    I’m another person who beliece raisins are fine as long as they are not cooked- and not put in cinnamon rolls, apple pie, or cookies.

    I agree with that t-shirt wholeheartedly. There were raisins in my carrot muffin this morning! Not acceptable, Pret a Manger.

    I can resist chocolate in almost all its forms except ice cream, and chocolate chip cookies. Seriously, when we all get the Godiva and Teuscher boxes from grateful vendors during the holidays, and it’s truffles galore? Meh, whatever.

    But chocolate chips cookies? LOVE. THEM. And so I take a cookie from the selection provided at my lunch meeting (hence: not labeled) . . . and it’s not chips at all. It’s those goddamn dried grapes sneaking into my dessert of choice again , turning it into some Healthy Alternative Snack. Did I say I wanted a Healthy Alternative Snack? No, I did not.

    Feck off, raisins.

    There are very few experiences in life more disappointing than than “OMG chocolate chip cookies!!! Hellz yes plea… aww crap those aren’t chocolate chips, those are raisins!”

    Does the raisin-hate extend to things like dried cherries or currants? I don’t really understand (since I love raisins long time).

    Mine does, it’s not the flavor, it’s the texture. When you cook dried fruits they suck up all available moisture and get slightly rehydrated and therefore weirdly squashy.

    I have to defend the lowly raisin here – cinnamon and raisins in baked goods just go together so well. The cinnamon raisin bagel is one of the finest creations known to man, with honey walnut cream cheese…mmmmmm.

    (Of course, my New York co-workers remind me I’m a transplanted Californian and like pineapple on pizza, and thus am not to be listened to on the subject of food.)

    There is a limit, though – putting raisins in apple pie is Just Not Right.

    Hmmmm… so the raisin hate is about the texture? Interesting. Because I’ve always loved raisins EVEN MORE when they’re in something liquidy and slightly rehydrated. Like raisins in apple pie, or in gooey cinnamon buns, or charoset for Passover. In fact, I’ve been thinking about soaking raisins in apple juice just so I could have juicy squishy raisins for snacking. I assume you all think I’m a total freak?

    Also, I generally prefer oatmeal raisin cookies to chocolate chip, unless my grandma or I are the ones who made the chocolate chip cookies. I like the whole cinnamon/spice/brown sugar/raisin thing better than chocolate (hence my joy over pumkin spice coffee).

    I like raisins in my baked goods, especially when cinnamon is in close proximity. Cinnamon rolls, bagels, apple pie – it’s all good to me.

    But, oddly enough, the only cookie I’m not super fond of is oatmeal raisin.

    I mean, I like oatmeal. I like raisins. I like raisins in oatmeal. But in cookie form? Not so much.

    Doesn’t mean I won’t eat it if I’m having a cookie jones and no other cookies are to be had (faves are peanut butter and sugar).

    Craig, I’m a current Californian (been here since ’77, when I was eleven), but I gotta agree with your co-workers. Pineapple has no place on pizza. Then again, my transplanted New York friends don’t think I seem all that Californian.

    I’m going to veer off the raisin track for a second and focus on shoes instead! As much as I adore the way those shoes look, I have never ever in my life found a pair of sling-backs that don’t kill my heel. The toe issue is variable, but every sling-back I’ve ever purchased ripped my heel up but good. They are adorable, but beware!
