Adventures In Random DVR-Pausing: Taking! It! Personally!

In Hargitay’s defense, I think the guy taking her hostage had just gotten shot by Vincent Spano; I’d make that face too.   On the other hand, she could have just read yet another script in which a member of the Stabler family is kidnapped, arrested, or pinned in a wrecked car while delivering a baby.   Because: seriously.

That pic looks as though someone just shot Sarah Palin in the ass…a wolf in a helicopter, maybe.
(I really thought that was Sarah…)

I agree wholeheartedly; I only see about three episodes a year, yet somehow I have seen all of those things happen. Sigh.

And another one is coming. That’s what Olivia gets for being single and childless!

  • Krissa says:

I read that as “Jessie Spano.” Whole different mental image, there.

    “…I’m so excited! I’m so excited! I’m so…I’m so…scared!!”

  • Jules says:

After watching last night’s episode my money is on “read another crappy script.”

    Because: seriously

Oh Sars, *sigh* I have never agreed with you more than when I read this post.

Just watched this week’s episode…depression. And next week’s show features YET ANOTHER scenario in which one of the SVU is personally affected??? Seriously, Stabler’s family is a wreck, Liv is gonna be accused of murder, Captain Cragen’s suspended, Cabot’s under investigation…the only thing that’s left is for the very normal, cool M.E. to run amok and start falsifying evidence and killing people…oh no wait they already DID that storyline, with last season’s killer CSI guy. The only thing keeping me watching is the awesome that is Finn, because I am thisclose to giving up on this show.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@EJI: God, that episode. Cragen SHOULD get suspended — or fired. They all should. The idea that these detectives can investigate cases in which they have a personal stake is the one that gets this show into trouble constantly (see also: Adam Beach going vigilante last year; Kathleen’s bipolar disorder; the Liv’s brother arc, and by the way, could they have cast a guy who looked LESS like her?), and this was just egregious. I’ve seen more controlled plotting from fifth-graders.

The M.E. is consistently the only one who’s like, “I’m not going to act like y’all, BECAUSE IT’S UNETHICAL, UH DUH,” and if they write her out of character to serve some bazoo whipsaw plot like they do with everyone else, I’m quitting. I don’t watch for the realism, but there’s a limit, even still.

For all you Hargitay fans out there, Kathy Griffin has an absolutly hilarious story about her in her new book. Turns out Kathy was Mariska’s teacher at the Groundlings. Fortunately, its a story that makes both Kathy and Mariska look good (or at least not like assholes). It gave me a whole new appreciation for MH as something more than just another pretty face.
