Die Another Day

You don’t expect much from a Bond movie in certain areas, but I didn’t love this one — it tried too hard for “serious” at the beginning, it went on too long, and Halle Berry is too good an actress to play a Bond girl, if that makes any sense.   The stupid single entendres the Bond girl is used for don’t quite work in the hands of a decent actress, and I didn’t feel she had enough to do ass-kicking-wise until the last fifteen minutes.   And what is with Pierce Brosnan’s kissing?   He looked like a turkey regurgitating something.   I’ve never noticed that before, but every time he lunged at a woman’s mouth, the Couch Baron and I broke up laughing — totally not sexy.   Not a great outing for 007.
