You know, I don’t want to hang out with Russell Crowe, but I have to say, having finally seen this, that he legitimately got robbed for the Oscar that year. I liked this pretty well, especially since I was bracing for a fairly dry lecture on corporate malfeasance; it’s good and entertaining throughout. Could have been shorter and less tricked-up with some of the camerawork, but that’s Mann for you; it wasn’t overly distracting. And Pacino was good, too — Pacino-y and yelly, but it seemed more purposeful this time, like he was actually paying attention. Thumbs up. (4/11/06)
