The N.C. Double Scoop: Your Champion

Submitted by on September 25, 2008 – 12:35 PM62 Comments

Ice-cream fans cast more than three thousand votes, and while vanilla got out to an initial lead, mint chocolate chip surged back for the win, 56% to 44%.

TN and The Grub Report thank you for all the votes, comments, and support, and we urge you to watch this space for the N. Cereal A.A. (“now with 100% fewer punched babies!”), coming soon.

I prolly paid way too much attention to this competition, but not only am I thrilled for MCC’s win (my fav since I was a wee one) but am also now in love with Coldstone’s Blueberry Muffin Mix flavor.

  • Pam says:

Aw, Sars… no love for RBC? Cap’n Crunch with Crunchberries, then? Kills the roof of my mouth because I can’t stop at one bowl, but has been a fave for years…

  • Lily says:

Driver B: So much WORD on Cracklin’ Oat Bran — tastes like delicious oatmeal cookies! But for some reason it’s always the most expensive cereal. I guess delicious ain’t cheap.

  • Glark says:

Horseshit of the high magnitude! I’m going to go punch like fourteen babies!

  • Glark says:

    Er, high*est*.

MCC is like the ice cream Mason-Dixon line at Casa Cole-Ariano. I think it is pure evil but Tara says it is mana from heaven.

  • Jaybird says:

Raisins are actually thinly disguised wingless houseflies. It’s true. That’s why they squoosh when you touch them.

  • Sophie says:

Ice cream, whatever, I’ve moved on already. And I’m taking N. Cereal A.A. as a personal shout out…

  • Erin says:

    Hooray for MCC!

I do love vanilla, and it is very soothing, but it’s sort of the condiment of the ice cream world…best on a brownie, in a float or with pie.

Bring on the breakfast cereal! Honey Bunches of Oats, anyone?

  • Sandman says:

“N. Cereal AA MUST have Cracklin’ Oat Bran – looks like cat food, tastes like delicious!”

Testify, Driver B! Does anybody remember when it was Cracklin’ Bran? Before the simoom of the Oat Bran Craze blew through Cereal-Land? I loved the earlier iteration (oat-eration?), too. But all my favourites disappear. (Why did it look so much like cat food?)

  • Angela says:

I would just like everyone to agree right now that “oat-eration” is awesome. Sandman FTW.

  • Jaybird says:

@Angela: I’m just proud of Sandman for using “simoom” in a sentence. You don’t see that every day.

  • Tarn says:

I love me some Cracklin’ Oat Bran too, but I’m going with Golden Grahams FTW! They’re also delicious, with the added benefit that they are less expensive and don’t resemble kitty kibble.
