Contest: 48 Hours

Submitted by on September 29, 2009 – 2:03 PM10 Comments

dominoes2I’ve got good news and bad news.

The bad news is that Detroit’s public school system is in serious trouble, and my spy at Donors Choose tells me that Detroit educators hit the servers en masse yesterday with project requests.   Portland, OR and Philly face similar challenges, so if you have projects from these cities that you’d like me to add, please email those to me at bunting at tomatonation dot com.

Good news, I’ve got a lot more of: I’ll have the prize list up by tonight, and I welcome more contributions; I plan to give away at least one mini-prize for each day of the contest (some of the prizes might get really really mini, like a nail polish or a teeny tiny rubber duckie with devil horns, but: free stuff is awesome, just like you guys); $ and His Mysterians have rejoined the battle, so stay tuned for more matching-donation information; and it’s only two more days ’til the contest starts.   Eee!

Also, it’s Educator Appreciation Week at Borders: proof of educator status can get current and former teachers 30% off in the store.   All y’all teachers go treat yourselves to new day planners.   You deserve it.

Watch this space for more information; all the “official” contest pages should go up in the next couple of days.   TN’s Twitter stream (username TomatoNation) is also a great way to keep up with various goings-on — and to retweet them to your friends and colleagues.
