Contest: Kiva.org gift cards!

Submitted by on October 6, 2009 – 10:00 AM11 Comments

Today’s mini-prize is brought to us by a generous group of peeps at KivaFriends.org.   (In case you haven’t heard about Kiva, it’s a micro-finance lending site that works along lines similar to Donors Choose’s citizen-philanthropist model; you can read much more at Kiva.org.)

Want to test micro-lending out for yourself?   Why not do so with a $25 gift certificate to kiva.org?   Our KivaFriends teammates have donated two (2) $25 gift certificates — just donate to one of the three projects below, forward me your receipt by tonight at 11:59 PM ET, and you could win!

“Laptops for Microfinancing Project”

“You Ought To Be In Pictures!”

“The Lorax and I – Rhetoric in the High School Classroom”

Also!   If one of the projects gets fully funded, each winner will get $10 donated towards a project of his/her choice; if two projects get funded, each winner will get $15; and if we fund all three, each winner will get $25 donated to his/her chosen projects.

Confused?   Here’s the short form: 1) our friends at kivafriends.org are awesome; 2) so are you; 3) please click on one of the links above and hand over some money.   Hee.

The “Laptops” project is completed — bonus $10 for our winners! Keep going on “Lorax” and “Pictures” to add to the bonus!

    Great going, folks.

  • Laura says:

This is a great mini-prize! I made a small donation to the Lorax. Trying to spread the money out between lots of projects.

  • JeniMull says:

I started this party late, due to traveling last week – but my October Trail of Tears is in full force! I love the new live feed within the projects. I just read the Laptops one, all the way down to the Mr. S the teacher being so excited it was funded – sniff. I just love this contest.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

$76 left on Lorax. Anyone want to step up? It raises the value of the mini-prize if we fund the projects fully.

    You’ve got ’til midnight ET.

  • JeniMull says:

    Lorax is done, people!

  • Academic says:

Let’s get the pictures projects funded folks! 2 hours 47 minutes remain as of my writing…

  • Kewalee says:

Thank you for funding my Lorax Project, Tomato Friends! Dr. Seuss is a genius who speaks to kids of all ages. The Lorax will have an honored place in my classroom for years to come. You have made a difference.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

All funded — good show, guys!

  • csebrell says:

I’m grateful to Tomato Nation for funding our school’s digital media project! I can’t wait to get to school in the morning and talk to the teacher whose project you have helped. She’s new at our school and struggling with having no resources or budget. This will make a world of difference in her class!
