Contest: Saturday mini-prize!

Submitted by on October 3, 2009 – 11:05 AM13 Comments

Hello, friends!   As of this writing, $21,625.   Not bad for the weekend!

Let’s keep it going with a mini-prize: a Grow-A-Tree kit.   C’mahhhhn: it’s a whole tree!   In a little box the size of a makeup mirror!   Great for the environment, great as a stocking-stuffer…great just like you guys.   Aw, group hug.

How to acquire this tree of the future?   Glad you asked.   Just donate to “Growing Minds, Growing Responsible, Growing Healthy” OR “NJ Water and You! Let’s Make it Perfect, Together!!” OR “Ecology Books for my 5th and 6th Grade Science Students.” Forward me your receipt from one (or all!) of these projects by 11:59 PM ET today, Saturday 3 October; win a tree.

Also, don’t forget to look at the prizing page now and then; I add new stuff all the time.

Wimpy Kid winners being selected as we speak.   Thanks, friends.

Maybe I just can’t find this… Is there a way to search within the projects you’ve designated for the TN challenge?

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@Kari: This is in the Contest FAQ. Short answer: no, there isn’t; I’m very sorry. Please email smc at donorschoose dot org to bring this to the attention of DC HQ.

  • bluechaos says:

Whoever dropped the 4 bucks I found on the ground this morning will be generously donating it to teach kids in our state about water pollution.

  • MeganT says:

Does anyone know how to get actual supplies to classrooms in need? Some of the TN projects actually needed things I have (yarn, lots and lots of yarn), which I can’t find a place for in any of my local schools.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

@Megan: DC doesn’t do it, but they have a list of suggested partner orgs who do. You can find that here: http://www.donorschoose.org/help/donor_faq.html?q=46

And we’ve got a lot of knitters in the group, so if you can’t bear to have it around, you can always turn it into a contest prize…

And another project funded! How fun, a tree. Happy donating everyone

Since we all seem to have a very special show or tv movie we’d love to have your take on, I wonder, if maybe, you’d consider auctioning off a recap as part of the Donor’s Choose drive this year?

@J: Ooh, good idea. Remind me of that at contest time.

I won’t be revisiting MSCL; I recapped a big chunk of that for TWoP, and as much as I love the show, that bird is done.

  • Leigh in CO says:

Oh, @J…I hope the winner shares THAT prize!

  • Clairezilla says:

Ha! I would so love to see you recap MacGyver!

  • Kristen B. says:

For your consideration: could you post a perma-link to the TN page at DC on your home page for the duration of the contest? (Maybe under the “Pages” section) I just remember from past years that, once things get rockin’-and-rollin’ in October, it gets more and more difficult to find the link and get to the TN page.

    Thanks. :)

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

There is a permalink in the Contest FAQ, which is at the top of the homepage, on the right. Just in case: https://tomatonation.com/?page_id=3748

  • Kristen B. says:

Ah, I see. Me = dork. Mea culpa.

  • Sarah D. Bunting says:

Me = too, don’t worry about it. Heh.

I’ve just pinned the initial post to the top of the homepage, so we’ll see if that makes things less confusing.
