Giving new meaning to the term “field trip”

It is on at last, friends.   I apologize for the delay, but now, without further ado, I invite you to join me on a tour of Washington, DC’s finest sights:

Friday 13 March 2009

Monuments!

Photo ops!

A fire-safety pomodoro attempting an electric slide near the seat of our nation’s government!

Beer(s)!

Probably not in that order, at all!

Yet TBD: how I get there (I had planned to take the train, but now that I drive one of these — a red one, no less — I’m inclined to up the hilarity by driving, in my tomato outfit, in my tiny tomato-colored car); what exactly I see and do, and when; which tights to pair with my rig.

But here’s what we do know: it’s March 13th; Mr. S and I will provide the customary video for the enjoyment of absent friends; you should totally come.

…Hey, remember how you did this, during an economy that even Hoover’s ghost is shaking his head at all, “…Jesus Christ”?   Yeah, me too.   That was awesome.

ZOMG! I work in DC! And I’ll probably be unemployed, hee hee, by that date. So count me in, it sounds like a blast!

Lucky, lucky DC! Lucky, lucky TN readers who are close enough to witness in person. Must await the video, myself. Jealous…

I just my thank-you package last week from the class that I funded through Donors Choose. Sweet kids, wonderful letters. Not why I donated, of course, but what a nice touch.

    Go, Dancing Tomato, go!

Please, PLEASE tell me that the car has a vanity plate of TMTO1 or CHRYTOM or something.

    Please?

    Anywho, back to lurking.

Darn it, my cousin, who’s been living in DC for the last 3 years, just moved back to NJ, so I have no freebie crash space anymore. Given my month-to-month job situation, el cheapo trips are all I can swing, travel-wise. I’d be able to get there on points, but then I’d be living in the Lincoln Memorial for the duration, and I don’t think that would go over well with the PTBs in DC. I’ll wait impatiently for the youtube video.

Have a great time, don’t get arrested for trespassing on federal property, and definitely take the tomatomobile. As added enjoyment: it’ll freak out visiting Texans, who think a regular cab pickup is a small car (this actually happened to me – I drove a smart around Toronto for a weekend & got stared at by a Texas-licensed Hummer full of kids making nose prints on the windows). Always good fun!

“… And finally, tonight, employers in the greater DC area experienced record numbers of employees calling in Tomato this morning. “

I know this isn’t tomato-y, but if you’re looking for some good drinks & eats, I highly recommend Elephant & Castle pub, it’s right near the White House and I still dream about their bread pudding, two years later.

I am so tempted to fly out for the day but I just forked over my bonus to get my car fixed! Oh well, that’s what YouTube is for! I can’t wait for all the tomatoey-goodness!
