Goin’ All The Way, Day 1: That Special Someone (Is You)

Welcome to the Tomato Nation/Donors Choose Prom 2013! Tickets are now on sale, as it were; to donate, click here.

Confused? The full FAQ is right here, but here’s the short form: we’re trying to raise a bunch of money for kids and classrooms in need, with a prom theme (which we may bend to near the breaking point). What does “goin’ all the way” mean in this context? It means many of the projects don’t have much money before they’re completed, so we can take them…all the way, exactly. And if we can get that giving page to 50K, I’ll throw a prom, details TBA.

But first, let’s talk about getting a date to prom, one of pop culture’s most tried (or trying) and true sources of high-school-show conflict. I went to a girls’ school, and I feel that. It’s nerve-wracking. So, many of the projects I added today have to do with social skills: anger-management classes, learning about diversity, managing hurricane anxiety, and more. You’ll also find tons of projects with less than $100 left, everything from core math materials to baby chicks (aw). Give to anything you like. Even a buck counts (and means you’re eligible for prizes).

So: donate! Forward your receipt to bunting at tomatonation dot com — that puts you in the running for general prizes, AND today’s daily prize, one of two (2) Etsy gift codes for $25 each, compliments of the talented and sweet-smelling Melissa S.; and a copy of Pretty In Pink in the format of your choice! Forward those receipts, my pretties.

Again: giving page here, FAQ here, fill your flasks and let’s get this done. 50K by 5/24. Go.

Thanks Prom Nation! We’re dangerously close to $1k. Can’t wait to see all the good Tomatoes can do for classroom the next two weeks.

Thank you for doing this prom. As a teacher who has benefitted from Tomato Nation in the past, I appreciate the awareness you bring to so many projects. May this prom be the best ever.
