TN Fall Contest: 55

Submitted by on October 2, 2007 – 3:13 AM18 Comments

55 percent. That’s close to twenty thousand dollars. In 27 hours.

Y’all don’t fuck around, do you.

What a coincidence, neither do I. Time for another mini-prize! Let’s tackle some classroom supplies. Receipts forwarded to me for this project are eligible to win a Staples gift certificate. You’re still in the pool for the main prizing as well, of course.

I had to go for the new non-jurassic computer. Mine is too much a part of me to allow me not to support its brethren. :)

  • Rachel says:

56%! I see a giant tomato invading NYC!

…er, not to insinuate that YOU are giant, Sars… just that a tomato costume brings with it a certain amount of size, you know….

  • alivicwil says:

It’s so hard to choose! They’re all worthy :)
I changed my mind half a dozen times… Went with the writing centre for ESL students.

  • Clairezilla says:

I think the TN Readers’ theme song is now officially “We Do Not F*ck Around” by Viva Voce.

  • Karen says:

Sars — do we need to forward a receipt to be in the running for general prizes? Or is that automatic?

  • Karen says:

Wohoo! I just donated…and then realized that I have no idea what email address we are forwarding our confirmations to. I can’t seem to find it on the site (it’s early, haven’t had coffee). Can you guys help a girl out?

  • Sars says:

sars at tomatonation dot com — all this information is on the contest page, which you can find right here: https://tomatonation.com/?page_id=1625. But yes, you need to forward me your receipt yourself in order to be entered.

  • RJ says:

That’s AMAZING!!!! I won’t have extra money until the middle of the month :( … can’t wait to contribute, but things are going so well I may not have the chance! Congratulations, SARS!

  • Karen says:

*headdesk* Why yes, I can read. Thanks.

(BTW, I’m the first Karen. The second Karen is someone else, which makes me think I need to start using a more distinctive name.)

  • Donna says:

I have been trying all morning to make a donation and the web site is not working for me. Is anyone else having this problem? Maybe the Tomato Nation users are overwhelming their web site with all the donations?

  • Jenn says:

60 percent. Sars, what are we going to do for the rest of the month?

  • Donna, I had the same problem yesterday. I could’ve sworn I’d completed the process right, and I kept waiting for the confirmation e-mail, and I haven’t recieved word. Maybe we are jamming the site, or maybe there are other problems. If you don’t get through today, I’ve had luck with their toll-free numbers in the past. I wasn’t able to make the gaggle of gift certificates I wanted to give out for Christmas last year and I called them up and they were way enthused to help me out….

Just a thought. Also, Donors Choose gift certificates for Stocking Stuffers absolutely rock. Haven’t had a complaint yet. Tell your friends!

  • Scarlett says:

Just to clarify…let’s say we hit 50K. (Which we’ll probably do on, like, Thursday). Will you keep posting projects for us to fund? I kind of dig seeing what the combined power of Lycopersicon-philes can get up to. So plenty of projects posted all the way to Halloween, regardless of total amount raised?

  • Nomie says:

    SIXTY-ONE PERCENT.

  • Sars says:

Scarlett: Not sure yet. I’m on four hours’ sleep today so I’m mostly focused on what we’ve got in front of us right now, but if/when we hit the initial goal, I’ll take it from there.

  • BetsyD says:

I wish I could have given more, but it felt good to get us a little closer to “Tomato Takes Manhattan.”

  • Molly says:

I can’t get my donation to go through. But I’ll keep at it! I wish I could singlehandedly fund the Lion King project…everyone should have the chance to see a Broadway show in their lifetime.

  • Sars says:

I’ll post this elsewhere shortly, but if you’re having issues, my friend Zach Walker at DC Donor Customer Service is happy to help you out: zach@donorschoose.org.
