TN Fall Contest: Dance Dance Organization

Submitted by on October 29, 2007 – 3:21 PM13 Comments

First, a quick note about actual fundraising: although I said I would add more projects and continue to raise the goal, I’ve decided to hold steady instead, at least for right now. If Colbert makes a run at us, I’ll have some projects in reserve; until that happens, let’s rest on…well, your laurels. By which I mean you rest while I learn this dance.

In other news, if I win this lunch with Jerry Yang, I will be designating one of you to attend. Stay tuned for further details.

And finally…Tomato Dance. Friday, November 2. 1 PM, unless you hear otherwise. Rockefeller Center is fairly big, so make sure you’re on the rink side of 30 Rock. Suggestions for after-work drinks venues welcome, although I may relocate that shit to Brooklyn so that I can just roll home. …Hee, “roll.”

I am so sad that I live in Chicago right now, and that NEVER happens. I think you should take this show on the road. It’s 100K! :)

In other news, I’m dying to hear what you have to say about all that’s happening with the Yanks, but I’m sure you’ve already gotten emails about that already.

  • Kelly says:

I maybe should have noted that the one I’m considering funding is “Start a R[evolution]”.

    Thanks!

  • Kelly says:

Eeep, my first didn’t post and now my second comment is contextless! Basically, I wondered if I could donate to another Donor’s Choose project, but have the “credit” for the donation put towards the Tomato Nation Challenge (everyone’s donating awesomeness has left no available projects (the sole unfunded one listed is locked)).

  • Jen says:

But even if we keep giving, TN still gets credit for it, right? I donated after the goal was reached, but that money was for you, not Colbert, damn it. ;)

  • Katie says:

I am SO excited for this dance! Are we talking about the area in between the rink and JCrew?

  • doriette says:

See you there. Want me to bring anything?

  • Jenn says:

    I vote for Johnny Utah’s
Blue Moon on tap, close to work and MECHANICAL BULL!!

  • Sars says:

@Katie: Yes. I will be emerging from 30 Rock, in which the J. Crew is quartered. You really won’t be able to miss me, trust me.

  • Shannon says:

Oh man! I have Friday off… must resist urge to book plane ticket…. hmm… if I time it right, I can leave from CA, fly to NY, watch the dance, and fly back home. I won’t even need a hotel! That’s not crazy, right? right??? “Bye Mom, I’ll be back tomorrow. I’m going to New York to watch a dancing tomato. Want me to bring you a souvenir?”

  • Heather says:

“My _____ went to New York to watch a dancing tomato, and all I got was this stupid T-Shirt.”

Commemorative Ts of the event would so rule…just sayin!

  • Sarah says:

Hey, it wouldn’t be a wasted weekend. You could stay and watch the NYC marathon. Hey, maybe Sars can do the dance at the finish line there as well?!

  • Sars says:

Oh my God, THE MARATHON. It goes right past my apartment every year! And I don’t have to send the costume back ’til Monday. Juuuuust saying.

  • Kathleen says:

Are you thinking after-work drinks in midtown, or elsewhere? Something conducive to a quick train-roll back to Brooklyn might be good. To that end, I vote for Galaxy on 15th and Irving, because it’s right by Union Square and its plethora of trains; but there are also a bajillion bars in midtown that would be able to accommodate a walking tomato and a gaggle of amused readers.

And you SO have to dance for the marathoners! Though it may distract them. Slightly.
