TN Fall Contest: Spirit Of 76 (Percent!)

Submitted by on October 3, 2007 – 11:37 AM15 Comments

When I started this entry five minutes ago, it led with a 73 pun. So much for that, you Awesomezillae: 76 percent.

I have to go into Manhattan now and, you know, do my other job. It takes me about an hour to get into midtown, so if the bonus round closes, just hang out; the next round is set to launch, I just have to flip the switch on it.

Also, because of the email set-up at work (and the CRAZY FLOOD OF AWESOME), it may take me a little longer to log receipts and get back to you about prizes; if you sent me an email and haven’t gotten a response, don’t panic.

Also also, on top of all the other entries in the awesomepedia, the postseason starts today! I’ll prolly open a thread for discussion in the afternoon for all the Rockies/Phils fans following along at work.

    …77%. Every TIME with that!

  • Sars says:

Um. 79%. Maybe I should just stay put for a few minutes.

  • Rain says:

79% now, o ye of the Tomato costume.

Did you pick which boots to go with it? I am intrigued. I may have some recommendations.

  • Rachel says:

Perhaps you should just stay home today? Call in with an Acute Case of AWESOMEITIS.

I’m not a doctor, but I played one in a school play once, and I’ll write you a note if you want.

  • Scarlett says:

Can I just mention that as of right now, we’ve donated almost 4 grand? In THREE HOURS?

  • Katherine says:

If you do leave, you should probably have updates texted to your cell! won’t be long now, 82%

  • Anne-Cara says:

Hell yeah, Playoffs! I’ll be following the Phils on the radio today…and will actually be at the game tomorrow!!

  • Natalie says:

84% now. This is so much more interesting (and definitely way more exciting) than my job.

  • Lis says:

OK I have to go to the bank before I can donate and it’s going to take me about 40 min. to get back here to do it… how much do you want to bet that by the time I get back we’ll be on to the next round? This is AMAZING!!! 85%!!!!!!

  • Ibis Lynn says:

My co-worker just put in his donation and my Awesome Bossome just put in the matching funds. Boss was pretty astounded when I showed him that between the time I mentioned it to him yesterday and this morning, we not only finished the first round completely, but were 72% up on the second round.

Of course, by the time I finished filling out the forms for their donations, it had already climbed to 82%, and I just checked and it’s now 89%.

    Utter. Fucking. Insanity.

  • bronte says:

    100%
I can go home now. As I said before I am on UK time and was waiting for Sars to get up and post round two a bit after lunch my time.

I didn’t dare go home until this round was over.

    60K for the Cherry Tomatoes!

  • Michelene says:

This is killing me. If I wasn’t trying to save a few bucks for the holiday I’m about to go on, I’d donate the last $539 myself just to beat the noon mark.

That’s it: at noon, I’m showering — no matter what. But it’d sure be nice if I could lather, rinse and repeat with a profound sense of closure.

  • bronte says:

Oh wait, that was Round 1 at 100%. Well I’ll still get to go home soon the way things are going.

  • kona says:

    100%! 12:17 pm.

  • Shotrock says:

You know, I would like to say I did it because I wuv kiddies, good cause blahblah McCommunity Involvement DoGooderCakes.

But the idea of making an otherwise sane adult do something so silly, crazy and publicly humiliating such as wearing a tomato suit? ‘Tis a red flag in front of the heartless cynical cackling-at-the-thought-of-it bull that I am.
