A few scheduling notes
Hello, friends. I’ve returned to Brooklyn airspace; it’s time to let you know about some upcoming content and scheduling.
The Vine. Another fest will appear later today. I’ve been heavy on Ask The Readers entries of late, partly because it’s easier to format them on the fly from the road, but partly because I don’t have a ton of “regular” Vine letters on tap at the moment. Wedding season approacheth; let’s hear it.
BCLC wrap-up. Looking for ways to liven up 1000 miles of homeward-bound interstate. Finding little. Hey Pennsylvania, my ancestral home: be smaller, kthxbai.
The relaunch. Glark and I are set to switch over on Tuesday; you may see some 404s and other weirdness for a few days. Your best bet is to keep an eye on the Twitter stream (that’s @tomatonation, strangely enough). You can also email me about any problems or questions, but please wait a couple of days for the dust to settle. Chances are we’ll deal with whatever it is in the first 48 hours.
The N Candy AA. The Sweet Sixteen (rimshot) should go live next week, depending on where the relaunch is at. If it turns into a real cluster, we may switch the polling over to Grub Report; again, the Twitter feed will let you know what’s up. Going forward, once the redesign is in place and now that I’m back, the schedule should be tighter — and don’t forget, we’ve got a whole draw of non-chocolate candies to get through/hate on.
Casino tomato. I haven’t forgotten that you raised a bajillion dollars so I would to go Atlantic City. Mr. S and I spent the fall and winter first buying, and then staying inside propping up, a cranky house, but reasons aren’t excuses. I will have a date for you soon, probably early June.

I’m so glad you posted an update about Atlantic City. It crossed my mind the other day, for some reason. I’m having some weird brain medical issues at the moment, and the whole world seems kind of hazy, so I figured I’d somehow missed it/forgotten it. I felt very dopey, but now I know that (for once) I am actually not. Relief! I’m looking forward to reading chronicles of a gambling, rambling tomato!

Re: Pennsylvania. I grew up in the mid-state (which, strangely enough, means the east) of this great commonwealth, but went to Pitt. Every damn time in the past 10 years I’ve driven from home to Pittsburgh, I’ve had the thought around Breezewood, “If I was in Europe, I’d be in a different damn COUNTRY by now!”
I live in Philadelphia but it wasn’t until a trip to Cook Forest last year (not very far from the Ohio-PA border) that I realized just how wide this damn state is.
Nobody’s ever driven across the wide part of Texas? Or California, the up-and-down way?
