Save The Day: April 6

Submitted by on April 6, 2011 – 10:11 AM18 Comments

8:15 PM update

As of this writing, $61,134. Solid work! And don’t forget, you still have nearly four hours to donate and qualify for a shot at a $100 Zappos gift card! Any project on the Superpage will do it, in any amount — and we’ve been stalled at just north of 61K for a while now. Let’s try to get it to 62K by midnight. Remember, a match comes in at 66K. I know it’s a big job, but let’s just do that little one. 62K. Chins up.

11:30 AM update

$59,213! Awesome job.

In other awesome news, today’s mini-prize is a $100 e-certificate to Zappos, compliments of the lovely and generous Marie T. Donate to any project on the Superpage and you could win (no need to forward receipts)! Donate before midnight ET and new kicks could be thine!

Giving Pages: if you’ve added projects to your pages, please email those updates to themysteryintern at gmail dot com at the end of each day so that she can update the master spreadsheet.

Also: don’t forget to bid on the MBTV vintage tote today. And! Look forward to a 1K match at 66K!

10:15 AM update

Good morning! Apologies for a somewhat late start; I’ve come down with a minor bug. Maybe it’s…$58,049 fever!

…No? Okay, fine. But your amazing progress is giving me chills. Trust.

Also giving me goosebumps: the triumphant return of Carmen Manda-iego, Kablam-anda, Amanda The Intern and Her Sortable Project Spreadsheet Of Fine Feeling! Visit the spreadsheet; sort things on the spreadsheet; looooove the spreadsheet, for verily, it is awesome. Thank you, Amanda.

You’ll note that all Giving Pages’ projects currently appear on the spreadsheet. I believe Amanda updates them at the end of each day, so feel free to add and shuffle and she’ll take care of it; if I get new information on how Giving Page chiefs should handle that, I will pass it along. For now, just revel in how easy it is to find math projects.

Check yesterday’s last update for thoughts on how to keep things interesting as we continue pushing towards the goal — and watch this here space for today’s mini-prize!

Thank you for your donation yesterday to my project “Filling All of Our Nooks and Crannies With Knowledge.” I only have $500 left to go thanks to your help! Thanks to you my lower readers won’t have to be embarrassed about reading picture books because NO one will know. Reading will actually be FUN for them.
    With much gratitude,
    Stacy

Amanda, I bow at your feet! To include all giving pages on the Spreadsheet, you are Awesome!!!! Time consuming, I know, but so nice to find what you are looking for. Onward and upward superheroes

FIRE! FIRE! HELP or we will EXPIRE in HOURS! FIRE! GIVING PAGE

Please take a moment to visit my giving page. MANY great projects are due to expire in 9 hours unless YOU SAVE THEM! Please join us and revive them before they are deceased. We saved four projects already this morning!!!

I have updated the FIRE! FIRE! giving page with many new projects that will expire in coming days. Let’s get together and help a deserving teacher out. It would be a shame to also lose the matching funds many have.

    FIRE! FIRE! HELP! SAVE ME!!!!

  • Christy M says:

How about $5 for every word my own Toddlor learns this month? He’s already got ‘Achoo’ (thanks, tree pollen).

  • mspaul says:

Hee – as I recall I coughed up $125 last October due to Jay Cutler’s unparalleled sackability.

For this contest I pledge to donate $1 for every point the Cubs are over or under .500 on April 15th and 29th. This is totally our year, right?

  • MH says:

Donated last night to a baseball project to celebrate my Jays and their walk-off home run in the 10th! If they keep playing this well they’ll bankrupt me by the end of the month!

Thanks, Sars, for pitching in as well :)

Amanda, amazing job! Thanks for all your hard work.

  • I Gotta Intern (Whooo Hoooo) says:

Good afternoon, TN, and I’m happy to be back!

I’ll get the FAQ up on the spreadsheet here sometime today or tomorrow, with any luck, but for right now: at the moment, I’m planning to do project updates once a day, usually more towards midnight (when things tend to slow down a bit). Right now the Spreadsheet o’ Sorting is up to date as of a couple of hours ago, but I’m certain some projects have completed since then as you guys are crazy fast (and crazy awesome, but that goes without saying).

When sending me project updates, please include the challenge ID – that’ll be the six digit number at the end of the URL string. That said, you do not have to worry about sending me completed projects, as I have a system for dealing with those. [steeples fingers]

    Thanks!

  • KUMA "Linda's Dog" says:

HELLO! HELLO! How do you make a Yorkie sound to get your attention?!?!

Check out my PETS4KIDS giving page! Today we have MATH & SCIENCE PROJECTS <$70. We need to support these classrooms to help inspire students to greatness. 25+ projects are less than $50. Come check us out! Helping teachers and students…one classroom at a time!

  • attica says:

Oh, 60K, you’re so pretty. And smart.

  • Driver B says:

I thought I ‘already did’ my gift for this challenge, but OMG I heart Zappos. Also, there are so many good projects! I think I’m upping the budget with many $10 gifts to spread around. :)

  • Driver B says:

Um. Then I also had to give one dollar to all of the projects on the FIRE! board.

I wish our challenge and others were easier to find from the DonorsChoose homepage. You have to go to the blog link first, which is not obvious.

  • Jen S 1.0 says:

Finally got that paycheck and donated! Amanda, your page is next on my list.

  • Jen S 1.0 says:

    Whoops. Meant AnnD.

  • Emily says:

Had to donate, partially due to the Zappos prize, but also in honor of the Twins 10th inning smackdown of the Yankees last night! (Any time Twins beat Yankees = smackdown in my book!) If the Twins can pull out another win today, I’ll throw in some more cash tomorrow! Yay!

  • Vanessa says:

Thank you Cindy from Honolulu, HI for supporting my Giving Page!

  • MH says:

Jays won again tonight so I donated toward some pool noodles for kids learning to swim. If you check out my giving page (Physical Activity is Fun!!!) you can find several sports-related projects (hockey, basketball, baseball, swimming, etc).

  • Holly says:

    Cindy from Honolulu,
Thank you for finishing so many of our projects on the Peter Parker page. You are a true Superhero.
